11 Simple Tips to Make Your Diet Healthier

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important part of maintaining good health, and can help you feel your best.

This means eating a wide variety of foods in the right proportions, and consuming the right amount of food and drink to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

Eat Properly

Don't cut out food groups — such as carbohydrates — altogether in a bid to lose weight quickly. Your body needs balance, so make sure you eat properly. And don't do denial — you'll only end up cracking!

Keep A Supply Of Healthy Snacks To Hand

Snacks can include fresh and dried fruit, wholesome cereal bars, rice cakes, low-fat fruit yogurts and wholemeal pitta and hummus. Maintaining a healthy diet is easier said than done.

Switch to 100% whole-wheat or whole-grain bread

Just switching to whole grains from refined grain products benefits your body about 10 different ways, from lengthening your life span to helping control weight to reducing your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer.

Every sandwich made with 100% whole wheat bread instead of white bread, for example, adds about 4 grams of fiber along with an assortment of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.

Add a little ground flaxseed to yogurt and smoothies

Eating healthy doesn't have to be convoluted. Do this every time you reach for a yogurt or order a smoothie. Adding 2 tablespoons of flaxseed adds 4 grams of fiber, 2.4 grams of healthy plant omega-3s fatty acids, and some healthy phytoestrogens (lignans) to your snack.

Don’t skip the protein

Protein is essential to good health. Try to eat some protein at every meal. Not only will it help keep you full, it will help you burn calories. Research studies show that protein increases your metabolism (how fast you burn calories). It also helps decrease your appetite because you feel fuller. There are many sources of protein. Try to choose lean meats, eggs, cottage cheese, fish, nuts, and legumes (beans, edamame).

Drink unsweetened tea instead of sweetened tea or soda

A serving of bottled or canned sweetened tea, sweetened tea from a restaurant, or soda has about 140 calories and 32 grams of sugar per 12-ounce serving. Switching to unsweetened tea can save 7,840 calories and 448 teaspoons of sugar per month if you drink about 2 servings of soda or sweetened tea a day.

Reduce use of certain fats and oil

We all need some fat in our diet, but eating too much – especially the wrong kinds - increases risks of obesity, heart disease and stroke.  Industrially-produced trans fats are the most hazardous for health. A diet high in this kind of fat has been found to raise risk of heart disease by nearly 30%.

Choose whole foods instead of processed

Swap your frozen pizza and instant ramen with whole foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. They are packed with essential nutrients like protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals as opposed to processed foods which contain empty calories.

Eat more fish

The American Heart Association recommends eating fish (particularly fatty fish like salmon and mackerel) at least twice a week. Loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, this superfood improves brain and heart health and may reduce the risk of diseases like Alzheimer’s, dementia and diabetes.

Replace Your Favorite “Fast Food” Restaurant

Eating out does not have to involve unhealthy foods.

Consider “upgrading” your favorite fast food restaurant to one with healthier options.

There are many healthy fast food restaurants and fusion kitchens offering delicious and healthy meals.

They may just be a great replacement for your favorite burger or pizza joint. What’s more, you can generally get these meals at a very decent price.

Don’t get thirsty

Aim for 6-8 glasses of fluid per day. Water is the best choice as it hydrates you without adding any extra calories to your daily intake.

Other good options include unsweetened tea and coffee, sugar free drinks and low fat milk. Unsweetened fruit juice and smoothies count but remember intake should be limited to 150ml a day.

Alcohol does not count because it makes you pass urine more frequently.

Feeling good about yourself and taking care of your health are important for your self-esteem and self-image. Maintain a healthy lifestyle by doing what is right for your body.

Feeling good about yourself and taking care of your health are important for your self-esteem and self-image. Maintain a healthy lifestyle by doing what is right for your body. In addition to Transforming your eating habits, there is something else you may never care about before, but you definitely should pay attention to.

Dampness Negatively Affects Your Body

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, people with damp in the body may have loss of appetite, heavy and tired limbs, cold hands and feet, greasy and oily skin, sticky stool, and/or nausea. Gastroenteritis can also be caused by damp, and it is often easy for those with damp in the body to get sick and gain weight. So how can we remove damp from our bodies?

Acupuncture and Moxabustion

The role of acupuncture is to clear and open the body's meridians. It can help move the blood and qi in the meridians and help the body clear toxins. Acupuncture can help us eliminate the dampness in the body by helping promote circulation as well as supporting the body’s digestion center (spleen and stomach in Chinese medicine). The heat from moxabustion can also help to dry damp. Acupuncture is one of the best choices for maintaining your health without side effects.

NBA Star Draymond Green utilizes Moxibustion to heal his body and return into his prime body state. Celebrities such as Robert Downey Jr. and Sandra Bullock are all fans of acupuncture.
